ESG Metrics in Private Equity in New Zealand

11 February 2025 | 4:00 – 6:00pm

Forsyth Barr, Level 23, Shortland & Fort Building, 88 Shortland St, Auckland

Purpose Capital, Forsyth Barr and Boston Consulting Group are pleased to invite you to a conversation on ESG metrics in private equity (PE) in New Zealand.

If you’ve been finding it challenging to report on portfolio company and fund level ESG metrics to Limited Partners (LPs), come and learn about the ESG Data Convergence Initiative (EDCI). A global initiative, the EDCI has effectively driven convergence around a core set of sustainability metrics, and developed a first-of-its-kind benchmark of sustainability data in the private markets (covering over 6,200 portfolio companies from 450 GPs and LPs) enabling research insights on sustainability in private equity.

Several New Zealand PE firms are members of EDCI and have found using the EDCI’s standard definitions and templated methods simplifies their reporting to LPs, while also providing them useful value-creation insights on their portfolio.

Ben Morley, Partner and Associate Director at Boston Consulting Group will talk about how international PE managers are utilizing sustainability data through initiatives like the EDCI. Ben leads the ESG due diligence, reporting and metrics work in private equity for BCG, including support of the EDCI.

Katie Beith, Head of ESG at Forsyth Barr will speak to Forsyth Barr’s Carbon and ESG (C&ESG) Ratings of New Zealand listed companies.

Bill Murphy, Executive Director at Purpose Capital will facilitate the discussion.

This event is for Private Equity investors. Questions should be directed to claire @ purposecapital.co.nz.

Places are limited, please RSVP early.
